"Wow! Is that a new Journey song? I thought they broke up! No, wait....that's not Journey's singer...who is that?" No, it wasn't Journey, although the band did have three of Journey's former members in it. "I've Got A Lot To Learn About Love" helped to propel The Storm's debut album to #3 on the Billboard charts and introduce a whole new audience to the magnificence of Kevin Chalfant's voice and songwriting abilities. The followup album, 'In The Eye of the Storm' was just as powerful. BACK ON THE ROAD The Storm stopped touring for a while and Chalfant started his own record label, Clique Records, and became a producer and started a solo career. He re-united with Josh Ramos from the original The Storm, got permission to use the name again, and took to the road, playing fairs and festivals. People started to remember... and the momentum has been building. I've had The Storm's cd's since they came out, and always loved the music. In recent years I've seen Kevin sing as part of Jim Peterik's World Stage concerts, and it became obvious that the powerful, soaring tenor voice that grabbed the nation back in 1991 (actually, a little earlier as a member of 707) was still there. It's unusual for a high male rock voice to stand the test of time, but Kevin certainly hasn't lost it. And he's a really nice guy to boot. ONE NIGHT JAM? I started to think that Chalfant would make a unique One Night Jam performer, and Jim Peterik put me in touch with him. Kevin said, "Sure! I'd love to do an acoustic set. But I want to bring the entire band with me." Wow. Thank you, Jim. So, we've decided to take a big step and squeeze more musicians on the CST stage than we've ever had before, outside of a musical. You will enjoy yourself. We're talking major national talent here. If you enjoyed the Peterik shows, and I know you did, you will absolutely enjoy seeing The Storm play our stage unplugged. There's acoustic rock magic waiting to happen. And it's all in the smoke-free, alcohol-free cozy environment of the Chicago Street Theatre. DON'T MISS OUT Seating at CST is limited. With only 140 seats, tickets will go fast, especially since they're only $25. Where else are you going to see a band this good, that close, for that kind of money? We had to turn people away at the door for the last Jim Peterik show. Don't let that happen to you. And be sure to bring extra money, because you will want to go home with an armful of cd's. --Paul Braun, Director, |
